How to choose an annuity appointment vendor
What is the short answer?
Choose an annuity appointment vendor by checking what it bills for, how it qualifies prospects and what proof you get before each meeting. Ask every vendor the questions below, get the answers in writing, and compare the cost per qualified conversation instead of the price per unit.
Question 1
What exactly does the vendor bill for?
Vendors bill at different points: when they deliver a lead, when they book a meeting, when the prospect confirms, or when the prospect attends. Ask for the exact event that triggers a charge, and ask whether there are retainers, setup fees or ad spend on top.
Question 2
How does the vendor define a show and a qualified prospect?
Get the definitions in writing. Ask about the asset floor, the age range, the retirement timeline and intent, and how the vendor checks each one. Ask whether there is a minimum time on the call and who decides if it counts.
Question 3
Who calls the prospect, and can you see or hear that call?
A form fill tells you what the prospect typed. A call with a person tells you much more. Ask whether a real person speaks to every prospect before the meeting, and whether you can review a recording.
Question 4
Is each appointment exclusive to you?
Ask whether the vendor sells each appointment to one agent only, or shares or resells it.
Question 5
What happens with no-shows, cancellations and unqualified prospects?
Ask whether the vendor bills, credits or replaces them, how long you have to raise a problem, and what evidence the vendor reviews.
Question 6
Where do prospects come from, and did they agree to be contacted?
Ask about the ad source, how prospects opt in, and how the vendor records consent for TCPA purposes. You stay responsible for honouring consent, Do-Not-Call and opt-out requests on every follow-up.
Question 7
Who runs booking, reminders and tracking?
Some vendors hand you a name and a time. Others run the calendar, the confirmations and the reminders for you. Ask what you'll have to do in your own CRM.
Question 8
What commitments and minimums apply?
Ask about minimum orders, contract length, how you pay and how you stop.

- No call with a person before the meeting, or no way to review it
- Appointments that may be shared or resold
- No written policy for no-shows and unqualified prospects
- No clear answer on how prospects consented to be contacted
